2008-2009 Journey

Hi all, Here we go again after a long and trying start Michael, Carl McMackin and Jeff Gelnaw finally got under way at 7 AM on November 11, 2008. I had to stay home and wait for our Windless to be repaired. (fine with me, that is the part of the trip I hate and they did it in 31 straight hours.) They had smooth sailing, cold but smooth except for the part where the anchor and chain decided to let go in the ocean and bring the boat to a screeching halt. Michael had to haul it up by hand. Whew, glad I wasn't there! I left home at around 8 AM on 13Th and had a rather nice drive until I got to the tunnel where the rain started to pour down on me, the visibility was nil and I made a wrong turn so instead of having to drive 12 minutes and arriving at 1:45 I drove around being lost until 4:30. I couldn't see, the water was 2 feet deep in parts but I finally made it. We had dinner at the Marker 20 restaurant. Met up with Perry Pilgrim (wears a bow tie) who runs the marina and spent most of his younger years in Toms River. Small, small world. Back to the boat, the boys walked Skipper I went to bed.
